Simple Hair Care Tips From Mirror Mirror Salon Owner Martha Lynn Kale | #takecarechallege beauty series via Lauren Jade Lately

No beauty series would be complete without some discussion about hair. I’m ALL about simple hair care – as a former tomboy and avid-user of hair ties, appreciating the art of an effortless set of locks. So who better than to turn to than Martha Lynn Kale – busy momma of two, blogger and owner of Mirror Mirror Salon to help us figure out where we should be investing our time and money when it comes to our hair.

A Q&A With Martha Lynn Kale of Mirror Mirror

Q: What are your top 3 go-to hair products?

Martha Lynn: I cannot live without Living Proof Dry Shampoo and their Full Dry Volume Blast and Flex.  The Dry Shampoo is perfect on the roots to remove any dirt, oil or odor and then the Full Dry Volume Blast is for the mid lengths and ends giving it major texture and volume!  Flex is a 3 in 1 hair spray you can use on wet or dry hair, has heat protectant and give a flexible hold.  I like to use it to set curls and I use it on EVERYONE to finish the look.  They all three smell amazing too!

Q: For all us lazy-hair girls, what’s the one thing you suggest we do on the reg?

Martha Lynn: For you “lazy girls” you are probably already doing it which is wash your hair less!  Washing your hair (shampooing in particular) is pretty rough on your hair and then there’s the damage of blow drying and using heat tools on top of it.  Chances are you could have just used a dry shampoo and fluffed it up without starting all over and your hair would be healthier because of it!  Even you ladies that work out every day, try just rinsing and using a conditioner on the ends and skip the shampoo.

Q: What’s a better ‘hairvestment’: Weekly Blowout or Weekly Hair Mask?

Martha Lynn: Blow out for sure!  If you get a good blow out, you won’t have to do your hair for 3-4 days and it will look awesome.
Q: Why does getting a haircut or color make us feel so damn good?

Martha Lynn: I think any time we invest in ourselves it’s good for the soul.  For many women it’s not just about the hair, it’s about taking time to sit and have a cup of coffee or glass of wine and treating themselves.  You can get your work done, read a magazine or shop.  It doesn’t hurt that you walk out of the salon looking fantastic too!

Me: Ah! I absolutely love that! It’s so true. We have to remember that investing in our physical self also impacts our inner self.
