Count My Soulmates

I grew up the Disney princess diet of believing we had to spend our waking hours searching for our Prince Charming: our soulmate. The one. A single individual responsible for all things to do with ‘us’.

But I’ve come to realize I can have many soulmates, people who have helped me learn to love without fear, who make me laugh until my cheeks hurt, who ask tough questions and who genuinely just want the best for me without a secret agenda. In the complex matrix of life, the expectation that one person can fulfill every desire & need you have, to label just one other human as a soulmate, now feels selfish and short-sighted. So good ahead and embrace those who leave you feeling fulfilled, whole, happy and worthy. Keep those people close, they’re your soulmates.
